YESTERDAY I SAW ‘SEABISCUIT’ TWO OF YOU TOLD ME TO SEE IT AND TAKE ALONG KLEANEX....I CAN’T REMEMBER IF I SAW SEABISCUIT...RACE...My Uncle Henry helped me buy my first Ford.$200. I was a Freshman at Redlands. I had worked all summer at Wilshire& Western Drive-in. Which Uncle Henry owned with a Mr. Carpenter. I wore with 5 car-hops a Green Cap,Greenpants with yellow stripes, & military lookng Cap... I worked on tips only 10-2 each day and 10-2 or three each night.

I often waited on people like Jack Benny, Joe Penner, “Fatty” Arbuckle,Estelle Taylor & her husband Jack Dempsey,Nelson Eddy etc.

My Uncle took me to the races at Santa Anita, the day before I drove him to a “Keeley Kure’ Institute near Riverside, not very far from Redlands. He lived on water/Juices etc for 28 days. The day before at the Races, he gave me $20. And showed me how to bet. As he tore up our tickets after the Races: . I said,”I didn’t bring you good luck as you promised.. I said; “Too bad we didn’t win” Uncle Henry said...”No , but we made Money... I invested $75,000 in building Santa Anita.”

I’m glad Carol taught us that Gambling must be controlled.(except for the Stock Market which she, woth the Twins thoroughly enjoyed,,, Love, & Prayers for each of you...Every day as I think of you and what you are doing from my Jacuzzi... Dad,.Grandad & Great Grandad Shikles.
