Recently through Internet ,I have met a ‘kissing Cousin” who studies Lineage. “Shikles” came apparently from a Hessian soldier who was paid to support the English in the Revolutionary War. That’s the “ Craig Stevens”- a or that you can see in early films of the 40’s to 70’s . There are “Shikles’ listed in Cole county. Mo. in 1839. Many of them were in Kentucky before that. When Carol, Tracy & I were at the Enloe Cemetery, Tracy found nearly 30 “Shikles” tombstones ...and said “Grandad, I can find a lot more if you give me time.” They seem to be Farmers & Teachers. My Cousin, who lives in Kansas, said, when I sent her an invitation to my 91st Birthday Party, “You look just like my father and all the other Shikles men, you are quite handsome...” Love to you all....I’m proud of each of you.
