I don't think I have ever been more excited about "Politics" than now; except when I was a candidate for School Board elections. I wish I could vote for McCain; I read his book and I stand for so much he espouses. The word "democratic" really means "The people rule." What a wonderful blood-bought privilege we have in voting. Of all the people who ever lived on earth none have breathed the fresh breath of freedom as we in America in this generation. I'll be voting for Bradley and later for Gore.

Through the years I've served in many positions in the Democratic Party, including State Conventions. The "Shikles Six" had breakfast with Congressman Jackson in the Capitol. Our Party has done so much more for the ordinary Americans than other Parties in power. We put the good "jellies" of life on the lower shelves so more people can taste them.

Here on our Campus, Carol and I have been involved in an exciting election of officers for our Wesley-Palms Club. Carol served as chairman of the nominating committee. A group of women, many our dearest friends, began campaigning for a man, a "stealth" candidate, who decided he wanted the job of President. Each meal they arranged for him to sit at a different table. Every person received a propagation sheet on his background and why he should be elected (though the year before he had refused to run.) He and they took for granted he would win, even though the present President was entitled to another year.

In all fairness Carol and I felt the present President was entitled to another year, so Carol made me a badge which I wore for 2 weeks and spoke >about often. It was real democracy.

At the election, the hall was crowded with more people than ever had attended before. 177 classmates voted. The man we campaigned for received 97 votes and the 'stealth' candidate received 80. It's fun. We do make a difference. Politics is in our life blood. "I will always act," said William James, "as if what I do makes a difference"

As a Christian I have discovered that most of the time I am a happy person, don't really fear anything, and rejoice in life's struggle. It IS FUN.

CALEB ELROY. P.S, Carol has signs around our honeymoon cottage that says:

CLUTTER IS POSTPONED DECISION MAKING.
